Brief But Intense Flash Flood Event in West Albany


An isolated multi-cell thunderstorm developed over and just west of downtown Albany prior to 1:30pm on Thursday July 5 and went on to produce 2.5" to 5" of rain in about one hour through 2:30pm over a very small localized urban area resulting in brief but fierce flash flooding. Rainfall elsewhere was spotty in nature due to additional isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms with most areas getting very little during the day.
